The meaning or representation of name is very important to me. I value the meaning of names in everyday living. For instance, today I decided on what perfume to wear based on the name. I didn’t want to wear “Guilty” because I wasn’t feeling that way today. So when it came time for me to name my brand and blog, Divine Starshine, it wasn’t just something I thought of on a whim. I wanted my name to represent the way I want the world to see me–the way I see myself. In order to introduce my brand, my blog, me, I feel it is pertinent to show the world what made me choose this special name.
I’ll start with the word STAR since that is the root word. I love stars! I everything stars, love what they represent, and think they are beautifully original. A few definitions of STAR: “A self-luminous celestial body consisting of a mass of gas held together by its own gravity in which the energy generated by nuclear reactions in the interior is balanced by the outflow of energy to the surface..” any of the large, self-luminous, heavenly bodies…considered as influencing humankind and events.”
Many times, we refer to people as “sunshine” because of their cheerful and happy demeanor. I don’t consider myself as the sun because the sun is the biggest and brightest star. In my life, God is my sun. As a star, I reflect His light while still reflecting my own personal light. With that being said, the definition of SHINE: “To reflect light; glint or glisten; to distinguish oneself in an activity or a field; excel; to be immediately apparent.”
DIVINE: “of, relating to, or proceeding directly from God; supremely good.” Need I elaborate?
I consider myself a multi-dimensional person (like most people). I cannot seem to fit every facet or aspect of myself into one box or one point (maybe not so much like most people). So I decided to be a SHINER and like a star, divide myself into 5 points:
- Scrutiny (my personal reviews on food, travel, services, products, etc.)
- Health (proper eating, wellness, exercise, mental, beauty)
- Inspiration (God, self-love, life)
- News (local, national, world, social, celebrity)
- Entertainment (movies, TV, music, travel, FUN!)
- Random (my secret 6th point–told you I can’t be put in a defined box)
With all that being said, I am a Divine Starshiner! And you are too! It’s not my job or duty to make you see or feel that, but it is my hope that I help someone see the world a bit differently and live your most awesome life! And if not, I just created a creative outlet for myself and all that goes on in my head. I know this blog will help at least one person–myself!
